AVOID. Newton Food centre on a Sunday evening was soooo busy, I wanted to the Heng Carrot Cake but it had at least a 30min wait, and I wasn’t prepared to wait that long for a takeaway. I decided (wrongly) to try Yong Seng as there wasn’t a queue. Rookie error. Food quantity and ingredients were fine, but everything else, the oily vegetables (Kai-lang), and beef kway-teo, was strangely under seasoned, and the balance was way-off. Nice to get takeaway chilli, but it couldn’t save the lacklustre taste of the dishes.

The beef hor fun is really bad. Overly Dry, taste like char kueh tiao instead. Chef must be really confused. Actual food totally doesn’t look like the menu. V deceiving. Do NOT recommend this stall at all. Can I give a zero star rating pls.

Had a bad experience at this stall. Prices stated at stall start from $5 for basic beef noodles. However, the hawkers took the liberty to prepare the $6 portion for me when I ordered the $5 portion for takeaway. When I asked them, they insisted that I did not explicitly state that I wanted the smallest portion, but I believe that I did indicate so when ordering. In any case, it is common practice for hawkers to prepare the cheapest/smallest option unless customer indicates otherwise. No apologies for preparing the wrong order. Portions are also small. $6 version when poured out consisted of 2 small chinese rice bowls of noodle soup with a few slivers of beef and some bean sprouts. The soup is rather light and tasty though.
