I bought from Hai Yan a few months ago and have been back a few times since.
Their service is SO GOOD, which is a treat, as compared to some of the shops there. The guy at the shop (probably the owner?) remembers his customers and is approachable and friendly. He never tries to hardsell/upsell and you don't feel like you're paying for something you never wanted or got overcharged.
The food is great, quality-wise and portion-wise. We had the seafood hor fun once and my family was surprised by the seafood we had. (sometimes it's really just noodles elsewhere)
Definitely my go-to in Newton from now onwards. I'll be back!
The stall at Newton that I absolutely must visit and is fantastic. I normally order with them via Whatsapp to place my order to go and have it either delivered or self-pick-up. They are always reasonable waiting times and are prompt in preparing the orders during self pickup. It's definitely worth making the journey just for their delicious chilli crab (the sauce is amazing!), Fried Rice and cereal prawns! The boss is incredibly friendly and efficient, making it a pleasure to order from them. I absolutely love it! Highly Recommend!
Came for late dinner, ordered small portion of sambal stingray at $13. Service was pretty fast. The fish has a nice charred on the skin side and the fins section, however the meat was on the drier side for me. The sambal is good with a mild spicy kick.
Take note of your table numbers as they will deliver to you. We had BBQ stingray (small, $15) and it was pretty good. Meat was soft and chili has a good kick. Char taste was not very strong.
Great original taste of Singapore seafood. 3rd generation run establishment serving really fresh products and charmingly nice service. Definitely a must try.
Still remembered the first time I ate at haiyan, it the year 2006. OMG , Now is 2023, and the food standard is still the same . Even nicer and better . Eating their food bring lots of memories! Reminiscing about the past, laughing at all the silliness of a time gone by. I had bbq sambal stingray BBQ Sotong Kailan Salted egg prawn Chilli Clams ( Lala )
Only issue is they Always tie the plastic bag so hard! Lol
